Watford with three at the top

2009 four-star prospect Christian Watford is putting up big numbers for Birmingham (Ala.) Shades Valley High School. A number of schools are trying to land him, but the 6-foot-7, 215-pound small forward has three schools at the top of his list.
"My top three are Memphis, Alabama and Louisville," said Watford. "I'm also considering Ole Miss, Marquette, Indiana, New Mexico and UAB."

Watford gave Rivals.com a quick breakdown on what he likes about his top three schools.
"I really, really like Memphis' style of play. That is my type of basketball. Coach Cal is a good coach and he does a great job of getting players to the NBA.
"Alabama is close to home and my family could come see me play. I like what they've done down there the last few years.
"I really like Coach Pitino. I've always liked him and the way he coaches."
A skilled finesse player who played primarily on the wing during the travel circuit, Watford has added some weight this fall and is playing a more physical brand of basketball. On the year he is pulling down 15 rebounds per game to go along with his 25 points per game.
"I'm working hard on my strength," he said. "I want to enter college at 230-pounds at least."
Watford, the No. 47 ranked prospect in the class of 2009, has offers from all the schools on his list.
