Waters May Leave Pitt

Walter Waters, a big-bodied center/forward from Southeastern High School in Detroit, Michigan, is expected to receive his release from the Pittsburgh basketball program, according to a source close to Waters. Walter signed a letter of intent with the Pittsburgh program last Fall.
Waters, 6-foot-9 and 265 pounds, is a player who can damage you in the low post and in the paint because of his wide frame. Waters was going to be part of a class that consisted of Chris Taft (who has qualified), Dante Milligan, and Aaron Gray.

It's likely that the Panthers will seek out another player to fill its class, perhaps a guard to shore up that position for the 2003-2004 season.
A lefty, Waters must first go through the NCAA clearinghouse before he is eligible to play in the 2003-2004 season.
