Washington Makes Decision

Deron Washington, a talented 6-foot-6 small forward from National Christian Academy in Ft. Washington, Md., signed a letter of intent with Virginia Tech.
NCA Head Coach Trevor Brown previously told us that Washington was interested in Charlotte, Virginia Tech, Richmond and Pittsburgh early on in his recruiting procss. "He took official visits to Virginia Tech and Charlotte," Brown said. "He also unofficially visited Richmond. Providence, Ole Miss, and Miami tried to get involved in the process late this Fall."

Brown added: "He picked Virginia Tech because there is immediate playing time and it's in the ACC. A lot of people passed up on him and he wants to prove he can play in the league. He likes Seth Greenberg and he wants to be part of something new at Virginia Tech."
Washington is a high-flying athlete and high major material. He needs to get stronger but can be an impact player for Virginia Tech. Washington was impressive this past spring and summer for the D.C. Assault program. He excels in an up tempo setting and has improved his perimeter stroke.
