Washington lands four-star Daejon Davis, again

It isn't often that schools can land a kid a second time around, but that's exactly what Lorenzo Romar and the Washington Huskies have done with four-star combo guard Daejon Davis.

After committing to the Huskies during his junior season and then backing off of that pledge over the summer, the product of Seattle (Wash.) Garfield committed for the second time on Monday.

Davis said that his long standing relationship with assistant Will Conroy and head coach Lorenzo Romar played a huge role in his decision.

"After going on all of my visits and seeing what everybody has to offer I just felt most comfortable with putting my trust with people I had developed a relationship most of my life," Davis told Rivals.com. "Coach Will Conroy has always been there, Coach Romar has always been there even when I wasn't being recruited and I was just up there shooting in the gym.

"I just felt most comfortable with staying home and doing it for my city."

The fact that he can play for his hometown team was a huge part of the decision for Davis. Washington has done very well with locals and Davis said that guys like himself and current teammate and future Husky Jaylen Nowell want to be examples for the next generation of Seattle talent.

"I think it shows kids growing up in the area that UW is a national competitor and that we deserve national notoriety," said Davis. "My little brother is getting ready to go through the same thing that I'm going through, playing for the same summer team that I played for and he and his teammates can see what Jaylen and I have done and see they can do it and have hope that they can make it too."

With the addition of Davis, Washington will move to No. 2 in the 2017 team rankings when they get updated on signing day. He joins No. 2 overall Michael Porter, fellow four-star Nowell, Rivals150 point guard Blake Harris and three-star forward Mamoudou Diarra.
