Washington Bound Joel Smith Is A Leader

Brewster Academy head coach Jason Smith has had his fair share of good players over the past couple of years. And this year his roster is again stacked with plenty of division one talent. Going into this season, Smith knew that Joel Smith, a 6-4 shooting guard/small forward from Lompac, Calif., was going to be one of his key players.
"He's a tremendous leader," Jason Smith said. "He's experienced. And he has a maturity that has been immeasurable for our team."

Joel Smith, who has already signed a letter of intent with Washington, played last season also for Brewster. He also had a great junior year. This season, Smith continues the momentum. "Joel is averaging about 17 points and 10 rebounds per game," said Jason Smith. "He is always around the ball and working hard."
Joel has the ability to score points in bunches too. He will add some offensive firepower to the Washington offense next season. Brewster Academy is a team with plenty of scorers so the statistics are deceiving. Smith does have the ability to average over 20 points a game on the high school level.
"Joel is extremely explosive," said Jason Smith. "He has been in a season long battle for the lead in dunks per game with Adrian Joseph. They average about three dunks a game. He's going to be a very good player for Washington."
