Washington adds second Rivals150 guard in 2017

Over the weekend at Nike's Peach Jam, Rivals150 point guard Blake Harris spoke glowingly about Washington and how he planned to visit in August. Turns out the No. 145 player in the class of 2017 didn't need to visit in order to make his commitment.

Monday night, the 6-foot-2 point guard out of Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God announced that he has committed to Washington.

One of the most athletically explosive point guard prospects in the class of 2017, Harris said that he felt like a priority for the Huskies. He also got to know and play with a major Husky target in 2017's No. 2 player Michael Porter at the Pangos All-American Camp and the idea of potentially playing with him didn't hurt.

"I loved everything about the coaching staff and how coach Romar gets guards to the league," Harris told Rivals.com.

"Coach Romar from Washington really made me a priority," said Harris. "I like Washington a lot.

"Me and Michael Porter played on the same Pangos team and I got the offer from Washington right after that. We did well together."

While Harris is a big time athlete and has proven that he can play with the nation's best players, there have been some questions about him. Most notably he's transferred high schools multiple teams and switched many summer teams. Harris owned that he can see where people may have questions but he's set to prove that he's a stable commit and that the Huskies are making a sound decision.

"I hear that and I'm trying to work on it," Harris told Rivals.com. "I'm staying at Word of God this year and that will be two straight years. I don't think I'll do anymore switching for AAU since it's almost over and in college I'm not planning on switching at all."

With Harris now in the fold, he joins four-star shooting guard Jaylen Nowell to give the Huskies an impressive start to 2017. He's looking forward to getting to Seattle and showing what he's capable of.

"I think I can be a facilitator and be vocal out there," said Harris. "I think I can score when needed and play good defense and get some steals."
