Warren to Play in ACC

Sam Warren, a 6-foot-10, 222-pound center out of Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colo., just completed his first official visit. And it looks like it will be the only official visit Warren takes as he has given a verbal commitment to play in the ACC.
“Sam called Coach Gillen at 5:00 PM and told him he’d be coming to Virginia,” said Warren’s mother Vanita Warren. “Coach Gillen and Sam are both excited about him attending Virginia.”

Nebraska, whom Warren unofficially visited, came in a close second according to Mrs. Warren. Warren was set to visit Penn State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, and UCLA, but his visit to Virginia sealed the deal.
“Sam and his father went on an official this weekend, and Sam liked it a lot and thought it was the best fit for him,” said Mrs. Warren. “Virginia is a great school and is one of the top, if not the top, public university in the country.
“My husband and I are tickled to death. We have family in the area and will be able to visit them and watch Sam play.”
Warren, who has been home schooled up until this year, plans on majoring in Media Arts.
Warren’s father measures 7-foot-1, and the younger Warren might still be growing. He can run and jump but still needs to further develop his skills and gain a better feel for the game. He does have an attractive upside, however.
