Ward to Big East

After a strong season during a post-graduate year at the Patterson (N.C.) School, Varez Ward has found a college home in the Big East.
An enjoyable visit to Cincinnati at the beginning of the week secured a commitment from Ward, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound combo guard.

"I built a strong relationship with the coaches at Cincinnati," said Ward. "I enjoyed my time on the visit and like the campus and the arena."
With interest also from UAB and Bradley, Ward noted that in the end it came down to Cincinnati and UTEP, who vigorously recruited Ward at the same level that Cincinnati recruited him.
According to Ward, Coach Cronin wants to utilize Ward's versatile skill set right away.
"They want to use me as a combo guard, but get me on the point as much as possible so they can move Deonta Vaughn to the wing," he said.
Ward is the fourth prospect in Cincinnati's recruiting class which also includes four-star prospects Yancy Gates and Cashmere Wright and three-star prospect Dion Dixon.
