Michael Walker, a 6-foot-6, 185 pound small forward from Southwest HS in Macon, Georgia, has restructured his potential college list. And that bodes well for his top four schools. He’ll welcome the schools in his own home over the month before he makes any official visits.

Walker reorganized his top four schools and said Tulane, Western Kentucky, Dayton and Georgia were his top priorities. The Green Wave will make the first in home visit on September 16.
“Tulane is a good school. Coach (Steve) Snell and I have a pretty tight relationship. He’s pretty cool. They’ve shown me a lot of love, some I’m going to show them some love back. They are a great school,” Walker said.
His head coach Emanuel Frazier said Walker is also hosting Murray State for in home visit on September 21. Frazier also mentioned Creighton as a school that will be making a trip to Macon to visit Walker.
Dayton has also been trying to schedule a date for a visit with the small forward. He’ll likely host them in the next two weeks. Walker is impressed by the coaching staff and sees their program as a place where he can play valuable minutes.
“Coach (Billy) Schmidt is a pretty cool guy,” Walker said. “They like to run an up tempo style and they said if I come in and work hard, I could be starting for them. I like to hear stuff like that.”
Western Kentucky and Georgia are both making an effort for an in home visit. The Hilltoppers have offered and are very interested in Walker. He said he’ll talk about scheduling official visits after hosting each school. But for him, he’s more concerned with the books rather than the ball.
“I’m basically looking at education. I want to know how their schools do as far as graduation rates and what kind of majors they have,” Walker said. “I kind of want to look at engineering but that could change.”
Walker said he’ll make a decision before the season gets started but for him, basketball is still basketball no matter where he goes.
“I just want to play. I work hard and don’t worry about anybody else,” Walker said. “I know if I take care of what I’m asked to do, than I don’t have to worry about anything.”
