Walker ready for Wake

Just a week before Ty Walker showed off his incredibly talented game off on a national circuit, the North Carolina center verbally committed to Wake Forest . His decision certainly put a quick stop to a recruitment that would have been one of the most watched of the spring.
Walker verbally committed to Wake Forest late Monday night. He said he was watching the national championship game and decided to make the call to Skip Prosser and pledge his game to the Demon Deacons.

"They had been text messaging me earlier in the day and it had been something that I had been thinking about for a while so I decided to make the call and commit," Walker said. "I really like everything about Wake - the players, the coaches, the campus, the situation there. It all made sense to me."
The five-star center is coming off a fine junior campaign at New Hanover High School in Wilmington, N.C. Walker helped pilot his team to the state championship and he was named most valuable player of the tournament.
He became a top priority for a number of schools after his stellar junior year. Clemson, Miami, NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech offered a scholarship while North Carolina , Florida and Kentucky were all taking a long look at the No. 19 ranked player in the country.
Walker , a shot-blocker supreme, could very well be the best big man to wear a Wake Forest jersey since Tim Duncan. He said he is looking forward to adding another piece to the puzzle in Winston-Salem.
"They said they are looking forward to having me as a shot-blocker that can give them an advantage with my size and shooting ability. I can go out to 15 to 18 feet and even out to the three point line," Walker said. "I know that I am only going to get better when I get stronger and bigger. My offense will come when I put on some muscle."
Walker is now preparing for a busy spring with the Virginia-based Boo Williams AAU club. He and his new teammates tip off the season on Friday night with a 10:30 game, he said.
