Walker: One of Kansas Citys Best

Marcus Walker, a three star 2005 prospect from O’Hara High School in Kansas City, Missouri, has a number of high major schools recruiting him. The 6-foot-2, 160-pound point guard is also on pace to break Anthony Peeler’s career scoring record for Kansas City.
"Marcus is being recruited by Oklahoma, Missouri, Oregon, Marquette, Illinois, Memphis, Arizona, and Arkansas,” said Walker’s AAU coach Harrel Johnson of the Kansas City Keys. “He has taken unofficial visits to Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and a few other Big 12 schools."

Although a point guard, Walker is scoring points at a record setting pace.
"Marcus is on pace to break Anthony Peeler's Kansas City scoring record,” said Coach Johnson. “He's on pace to score over 2,500 points for his high school career.”
“He's extremely quick. He's wiry strong. Marcus can get to the cup whenever he wants to. He has a good outside jumper. He's just an all around scorer. Marcus also does a good job at running the point and getting his teammates involved. Defensively he can shut his man down. When Marcus gets his mind set to shut you down it's going to be a long day for the other kids."
Coach Johnson did note some areas where Walker could improve his game.
"Although Marcus is very good offensively and defensively he still has things he can get better at. He needs to learn to be more patiant. Sometimes he gets in to big of a hurry. He couuld also use a little more weight and get stronger."
Coach Johnson also noted that Marcus is afinalist for the DiRenna Award that is given to the top player in Kansas City.
