In need of replenishing its backcourt, Seton Hall secured the commitment of Jordan Walker on Monday. A quick, tough, skilled and productive point guard from the talented Patrick School in Elizabeth, N.J., Walker should immediately infuse energy and playmaking capabilities into the Big East program.

Despite remaining in the mix for five star lead guard Trevon Duval this spring, Seton Hall landed one of the best available prospects in the 2017 class with Walker. A 6-foot lead guard that loves to push the pace at any given chance, Walker is a very strong addition for Kevin Willard, who needs to replace graduating point guard Madison Jones.

Walker was originally planning on taking a prep year in the fall, but decided Seton Hall would be the place for him.

“I feel like I am ready to go now and I feel like college can benefit me more than a prep school,” he said. “It is a school that is in a great conference but always isn’t considered the best,” he said. “I just want to prove to people that we are the best. It is also a family to me. They will give me the keys to the team.”

Walker picked Seton Hall over offers from Oklahoma State, Pitt, Cal and UMass.

The late signing period for Seton Hall has been a very advantageous one as the Pirates have picked up commitments from Sandro Mamukelashvili, and now Walker, a Rivals150 guard that will immediately see minutes in a talented backcourt alongside returning contributors Myles Powell, Khadeem Carrington and Desi Rodriguez.

Walker becomes the fourth commitment in the 2017 class for Seton Hall, joining Mamukelashvili, top-150 guard Myles Cale and bruising big man Darnell Brodie.
