Walker Closes List Of Schools

Marcus Walker, the 6-foot-2, 160-pound point guard from O'Hara High School in Kansas City, Mo., has decided to take a step forward in his recruitment. There is no doubt that a number of high major programs are interested in the No. 109 ranked player in the class of 2005, but Walker has made it clear that no more schools will be added to his current list. The Missouri native plans to make a decision about his future during the football season.
“I have not narrowed down my list of schools yet,” Walker said. “I have decided that I am going to select one of the schools that are on my list right now. No other schools will be added during the month of July, as I feel good about my list as it stands. I plan to commit to one of the schools during my senior year of football.”

As it stands right now, Walker is seriously interested in Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Duquesne, Illinois, Iowa, Marquette, Memphis, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon and Purdue. Six of the schools have offered scholarships, but Walker feels that more offers will come after the end of the July evaluation period.
“Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, Illinois, Purdue and Duquesne are the schools that have offered scholarships,” Walker said. “I feel that more schools will offer after they see me play again in July. I will be in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Kansas City for my final three tournaments, so coaches still have plenty of time to see me play.
“Since my list is closed, I’m just going to concentrate on becoming the best player I possibly can be,” he added. “I think that most coaches know what type of player I am, but I still have some improvements to make. I feel that I have the ability to play a little better, but I have time to do that with three big time tournaments left this month.”
