Rodney Miller, despite missing a chunk of the season with an injury, has become a priority for a number of college programs because of his ability to anchor the paint on both ends. Offers have rolled in from Wake Forest, UConn, Miami, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida and Tulsa with interest from Duke and Missouri coming in as well.
The four-star prospect recently took a trip to Wake Forest to get a closer look at Danny Manning's program.
"I think that's a beautiful program down there," Miller said. "The campus is beautiful. I know it is Coach Manning's first year there and they didn't make the tournament, but I like what he's told me about his plan for the team and the future. They will only get better."
Manning's success coaching post players in the past intrigues Miller.
"That plays a huge role because being a big guy, I've never really had a big man coach," Miller said. "So Danny Manning definitely would be a change for me, but I think it could be a step in the right direction for me. He has a lot of connections to good players and then Tim Duncan attended Wake Forest. It would be cool to work with some of the best big men in the world. Even knowing Danny Manning is a blessing."
Jim Larranaga's coaching staff at Miami is trying to work their old connections in Virginia to reel in Miller.
"I think they are a really good team," Miler said. "They are only going to get better. They have had a decent season there this year. They are really athletic and I like the way they run their offense."
Tulsa's new coaching staff under Frank Haith is in constant contact with the 6-foot-11, 245-pound center.
"Tulsa had a really good season this year," Miller said. "I talk to their coaches on a regular basis. I like the way they run their offense and how they are on the rise. I think they will continue to get better."
Miller has no plans to commit any time soon.
"I'll probably sometime during my senior," he said. "I'm going to narrow it down and take some official visits and figure out where I want to go. I probably won't sign early. After academics, I'm going to look for a school where I'll fit in with the team and how they play."
Wake Forest is currently in the driver's seat in Miller's recruitment.
"Right now, I'd say I like Wake Forest the most because they have a really (good) business program and Danny Manning as the coach. That doesn't mean I'm automatically going to commit there because I know there are a lot of other really good programs too."
