Virginia scores 2012 big man

Virginia is on the board in 2012 with the commitment of Mike Tobey.
A skilled post prospect at 6-foot-10, Tobey gave his pledge to Coach Tony Bennett at the beginning of the week.
"Mike is very talented," said Tobey's high school coach Fred Benjamin of the Lakeville (Conn.) Hotchkiss School. "He can shoot the three and scores jump hooks with either hand. He has impressive footwork and work ethic for a prospect his age.
"He really is a four/five because of his ability to face up and make plays."
Averaging a double/double on the season, Tobey put up impressive numbers against five-star big man Kaleb Tarczewski of Southborough (Mass.) St. Mark's High School. Tobey registered 10 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks in the game.
Along with Virginia, Tobey also visited Maryland. Coach Benjamin also noted that Tobey had offers from Pittsburgh, Xavier, Northwestern and Miami.
As far as taking his game to a higher level, Benjamin said Tobey is focused on improving his strength and learning to play bigger in the paint.
On the travel circuit, Tobey runs with the New York Gauchos program.
