Viney ready to grow in Pac-10

Drew Viney knew he wasn't leaving the West Coast for college. On Friday, he made that final decision. The 6-foot-7, 195-pound wing from Villa Park (Calif.) High School verbally committed to Cal.
The four-star wing picked the Bears after long considering Arizona State.

"My mom told me to compare the two schools and find the pluses and minuses of each school and when I did that, all of my answers kept pointing to Cal," Viney said.
Viney gives the Bears a strong scoring option on the wing to go along with California native Omondi Amoke and Arizona forward Harper Kamp. Viney said he likes the direction Ben Braun and staff are taking the Pac-10 school.
"I felt comfortable with their staff and with the players that are there and the players that they are bringing in," he said. "I felt like it was the perfect fit for me. They play the way I like to play."
Viney helped play a large roll with the Pump-N-Run Elite squad that won the adidas Super 64 and the Best of the Summer event in Los Angeles. Now he's looking for a Pac-10 championship.
