Villanueva Makes Decision

One of the remaining high school playes left in the draft has made a decision. Charlie Villanueva, a 6-10 forward from Blair Academy in New Jersey, has withdrawn his name from the 2003 NBA draft. Villanueva, who has given a commitment to Connecticut, will now play for Jim Calhoun's program next season.
Villanueva, ranked in many 2003 recruitings lists in the top five, is considered a big man with small forward skills. He has NBA range on his jumper and also is terrific in transition. He has the ability to dominate the game offensively due to his size and skills.
Last Fall, Villanueva had given a verbal commitment to Illinois. But after Bill Self left for the Kansas job, Villanueva backed away from his commitment. He opened up his recruiting process again and selected Connecticut over Kansas.
