Jay Wright and Villanova have solved their potential point guard issue for next season.

As expected Wednesday morning, Wright and the Wildcats landed a commitment from five-star point guard Jahvon Quinerly.

The product of Hudson Catholic in New Jersey who ranks No. 26 nationally announced his commitment via his Twitter account.

For much of Quinerly's recruitment, Villanova was considered a leader. However, late last summer Arizona emerged as a strong contender and landed a commitment from Quinerly after a campus visit in August.

In the Fall, Arizona assistant Emmanuel Richardson was arrested as part of the federal investigation into college basketball. During the process, it was alleged that Quinerly may have received improper benefits and he ended up backing away from his Arizona commitment. Prior to today's commitment, Quinerly had not commented on his recruitment other than to say that he had no comment.

A crafty floor general with tremendous vision, Quinerly became a must-have for the Wildcats. There's a good chance that junior point guard Jalen Brunson could leave for the NBA after this season and there's not much in the way of ball-handlers behind him if he leaves. In Quinerly, Nova now has a very nice security blanket who either learns from an All-American for a year or steps right in to take over.

Assuming Quinerly has no issues with the NCAA, his leadership, overall feel for the game and clever off the dribble scoring should allow him to make an instant impact. He joins a class that already includes four-star wing Brandon Slater and four-star stretch four man Cole Swider.
