The first thing that LaGerald Vick had to do after opening up his commitment from SMU was pick a new school. After selecting Kansas, the four-star guard then had to decide between enrolling as part of the Jayhawks 2015 class or spending a year in prep school like he had initially planned.
Tuesday afternoon, Rivals.com confirmed that the No. 33 prospect in the class of 2016 would pass on a year of prep school.
A 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Memphis (Tenn.) Douglass, Vick will instead enroll at Kansas as a member of their 2015 recruiting class.
During the spring, Vick touched off a recruiting frenzy when he decided to open things up and lit up the Under Armour Association as a member of Memphis based Team Thad. A high scoring wing, Vick can create his own shot off of the dribble and has deep range on his jumper. Vick will need to add strength to his slender 175 pound frame to handle the physical pounding he will endure in the Big 12 but he has the skill and athleticism to help boost the Jayhawks backcourt.
With Vick now in the class of 2015, the Jayhawks have an impressive three man recruiting class. Vick joins five-star big men Cheick Diallo and Carlton Bragg who rank No. 5 and No. 21 in 2015. By adding Vick, the Jayhawks move from No. 14 to No. 7 in the 2015 team recruiting rankings.
