Vegas: Mitchell continues to rise

LAS VEGAS- Former Kansas State commitment Tony Mitchell established himself as a promising four-star prospect at the King City Classic earlier in July. This week in Vegas, Mitchell has taken his game to an even higher level.
Tony Mitchell (Brandon Bass Elite)
There are similarities between Mitchell and Perry Jones. Both are elite athletes with size and talented but raw skill games. They both have helped their stocks tremendously in Vegas. Jones has gone from borderline elite prospect to potential No. 1 prospect. Mitchell has established himself as a five-star prospect and bona fide NBA prospect.
At 6-foot-7 and with a live body, Mitchell is a legitimate small forward with an explosive first step. He is a developing three-point shooter who also has a post up game. And on the glass, he can rebound with the best of them.
Head coaches from Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Georgetown and Cincinnati were courtside for his game.
K.C. Ross-Miller (Brandon Bass Elite)
Here are the positives on Ross-Miller. He gets to the rim with regularity and finishes when not overwhelmed by the tall timber. He draws a large number of fouls with his physical driving style. And he will knock down an open three-pointer.
The downside is that he tries to do too much at time, but when he plays within himself, Ross-Miller is a legitimate lower level high major prospect.
Alex Tiffin (Team Ariza)
A hard working power forward who rebounds and finishes, Tiffin is a strong mid-major prospect who is drawing the attention of high majors as well. He matched up well with Mitchell in his game against Brandon Bass.
Shavon Coleman (Louisiana Future)
Think Shaquille Thomas with a little less length and explosiveness but better ball handling skills. A definite high major prospect, Thomas is a slashing scorer and disruptive defensive player.
Coleman has Mississippi State, LSU, Oregon, Oregon State, Tulane, Texas Southern, Auburn and Louisiana Monroe on his school list.
Trey Zeigler (Team Detroit)
Maybe we just didn't see at first, but it looks like Zeigler's is adding to his game. Whether it's an extra gear or an added dose of confidence, Zeigler is continuously impacting the game. He is now in five-star discussion.
Rickey Scott (Full Court Athletes)
A physical athlete, Scott stood out against Team Detroit with his tenacious defense on Ray McCallum. A shooting guard on offense who can both attack the basket and knock down a three-pointer on the catch, Scott has great value as a lock down defender on three positions as well.
Gary Bell Jr. (2011 Seattle Rotary)
A solid combo guard, Bell does everything well, avoids negative plays and knocks down open shots. He is a definite high major prospect.
Myles Davis (2011 The Playaz)
Davis has been one of the top performer in Vegas. Playing for both the 16-under team and 17-under, Davis has scored points in large bunches for both squads. In his 16-under game Saturday, he went for 34 points against Indiana Elite.
A strong bodied shooting guard who can score at the rim and behind the arc, Davis does not yet have any offers but is recently getting interest from Wake Forest and Marquette. Look for the offers to come pouring in for the future four-star prospect.
Kevin Ware (2011 Atlanta Celtics)
Ware scored a game high 28 points, but had a couple costly turnovers down the stretch as the Celtics gave up a comfortable lead to lose an early elimination game.
Shannon Scott (2011 Southern Kings)
Scott had a big day for the Southern Kings. Not only did he lead them from the point guard position to three big wins on the day, he also scored a team high 20 points in a blowout win over DC Assault and hit a couple three-pointers in one of his earlier games. Scott is on his way to establishing himself as one of the better point guards in the 2011 class.
Tennessee's Bruce Pearl watched the Southern Kings morning game.
Dai-Jon Parker (2011 Southern Kings)
You don't see many players with the athleticism of Parker who have such an efficient game. Parker has a great feel for the timely pass but is also capable of exploding down the lane. His was also dialed in from outside on Saturday. In a win over DC Assault, Parker looked good running the point with Scott out of the game.
Parker named Texas, Kansas, Virginia Tech, Northwestern and Georgia as schools of interest who have offered him.
Julian Royal (Southern Kings)
A skilled four-man, Royal continues to grow and is a solid 6-foot-8 at this point. He is considering Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Georgetown, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Ohio State.
Quinn Cook (2011 DC Assault)
Cook had a monster game of 31 points in a big win over Indiana Elite. The rest of his team couldn't muster up much energy against the Southern Kings in their next game, but Cook competed throughout the game, finishing with a game high 24 points. Cook isn't an explosive penetrator but he is a crafty ball handler and deadly shooter.
Kansas State's head man Frank Martin has been tracking the DC Assault 16-under team closely.
Darnell Harris (2011 D-Harris Superstars)
Harris looks the part as a 6-foot-8 combo forward. He shoots the ball with confidence out to the three-point line and has the size to rebound his position. It looked like Harris has a feel for passing the ball, but he didn't attack off the dribble in this game.
Elgin Cook (2011 D-Harris Superstars)
An active wing at around 6-foot-5, Cook has impressive ball skills, and is an intriguing high major prospect.
Ross Travis (2011 43 Hoops)
The 6-foot-6 wing is a slasher with bounce. An energetic player with a feel for the game, Travis is an intriguing high major prospect.
Jermaine Sanders (2011 New Heights)
A big bodied lefty, Sanders is an impressive wing prospect who can make plays in traffic as well as on the perimeter.
Villanova was tracking Sanders and the rest of the New Heights squad.
