VCU snags another propect out of Florida

In a big day for VCU, Coach Anthony Grant reached a little deeper into the state of Florida to pick up a second commitment of the day. 6-foot-7, 227-pound combo forward Lance Kearse of Fort Myers (Fla.) High School has decided to be a Ram.
"I loved everything about VCU," said Kearse, who visited the campus last weekend. "The players and coaches are great."

VCU beat out Bradley, whom Kearse was to visit in two weeks, to land the productive forward. Kearse put up 18 points and 12 rebounds along with a handful of assists, steals and blocks per game during his junior season.
His travel team coach Tom Topping of NIKE Team Florida is certain that Kearse can play a more expanded role for VCU than he was able to play in the summer with highly ranked teammates like Nick Calathes, Chandler Parsons and Solomon Alabi.
"Lance really flew under the radar, and I'm surprised that a lot more people didn't get on him," said Topping. "I really think he can do a lot more than he was able to show with the role that he played for us. He can slash to the basket and can also step out and make shots."
Kearse is the No. 20 ranked prospect in the state of Florida.
