Vaughns taking scoring game to CAA

Vertrail Vaughns, a 6-foot-2 guard from Mesquite (Texas) High School, verbally committed to George Mason on Saturday.
The three-star guard said he liked the potential he saw at the Colonial Athletic Association school and decided the time was right to end his recruitment.

"I sat down and thought about my options and what best fit me," Vaughns said. "They play how I play and George Mason was just where I wanted to go. They run the floor and put a lot of shots. I think that's going to suit me."
After making a visit at the start of the month, Vaughns said he gave his decision a lot of thought and contemplated an offer from Colorado, he said, but George Mason won out.
"It was a very nice visit, very nice place. The people are nice. I met the president up there. He's a pretty interesting dude. He loves basketball. He is a big fan of the game and goes to all of the games. That was pretty cool," Vaughns said. "[Coach Jim Larranag] said I should have a chance to get a lot of playing time and do what I'm good at and that is scoring the ball. That's what I'm going to do."
Vaughns is the third player to commit to George Mason in 2009. He joins Rashaad Whack and Paris Bennett in the class.
