Vanterpool Still Looking

Andre Vanterpool, a 6-5, 185-point swingman from Manhasset High School on Long Island, New York, is waiting to see how his academic situation pans out.

Vanterpool has heard from Morgan St., Wagner,

Monmouth, and Stony Brook, as well as local Division II schools Adelphi and New York Tech. But before Vanterpool can move forward with the recruiting process, he is waiting to see if he can raise his academic standing. Andre has already achieved an 820

on the SAT, and will try and raise that score on the May test. Currently he is trying to raise his academic average to a 2.0.

Vanterpool averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks this past season for coach Bruce Minerly. He is an athletic slasher who handles well for his size. He will need to get stronger to compete at the Division I level, but is blessed with considerable athleticism. Vanterpool was an accomplished long jumper for Manhasset High School's track team before devoting his

time to basketball.

Vanterpool is also considering the prep and JUCO route at this point. Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York, is one JUCO program that has expressed interest.
