Vanterpool Headed To Juco

Some of the players at last week's Triple S Harley Davidson Charlie Weber Invitational at West Virginia University had made a decision for a post-secondary school but perhaps were looking to improve their skills and/or their opportunities. One such athlete is Andre Vanterpool, a 6-5, 185 pound wing from Manhasset (NY) High School.
Vanterpool said he's headed to Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. He had been looking at Morgan State, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Wagner, Rider, and St. Peter's. Vanterpool had achieved a qualifying SAT score but needed to fulfill his core requirements. So after looking at prep schools and jucos, Vanterpool decided to head to upstate New York.

Vanterpool helped the Long Island Roadrunners to 92-65 win over the New Jersey Wildcats Elite. He scored 16 points in the contest.
Vanterpool has a lot of athletic ability which he uses to advantage on both ends of the court. He also has good sense of the flow of the game, enabling him to pick up a couple steals versus the Wildcats.
He said he averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks last season at Manhasset and averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and three assists as a junior. Vanterpool said, "I'm working on my dribbling, shooting and defense this summer."
