Vanderbilt adds to 2007 class

Vanderbilt had a scholarship left to work with and the Commodores found their man in 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward Darshawn McClellan of Edison High School in Fresno, Calif.
"Out of the schools that recruited me all season, Vanderbilt was the best all around fit," said McClellan. "I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff and the returning players."

A number of schools tried to get McClellan to sign during the late period according to Edison head coach Arturo Ormond.
"It got ridiculous down the stretch," said Coach Ormond. "We had to cut some schools out like Colorado, South Florida, Long Beach State and Cal Poly. Basically it came down Vanderbilt, Wyoming, Fresno State and Pacific."
Edison finished 25-6 and McClellan led them in scoring with 22 points per game. He also added nine rebounds and a blocked shot.
"Darshawn had a great senior year," said Coach Ormond. "He is a nightmare on offense. He can play a lot of positions. This was his first year to play on the perimeter for us, but he can still post up, get to the basket and rebound. He is a match up problem and is a good passer and unselfish player as well."
McClellan joins point guard Keegan Bell, center Andrew Ogilvy and small forward Andre Walker as Vanderbilt signees.
