Valpo Has A Good One

MILFORD, Del. -- One of the more impressive prospects on display at the War on the Shore who was a virtual unknown entering this past weekend of play was 6-9, 200 pound Moussa Mbaye of Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J.
Mbaye has an intriguing package of speed and athleticism housed in a 6-9 frame. He made one of the top plays of the weekend when he recovered for a tremendous blocked shot on Saturday night in what later turned out to be a heartbreaking loss to Bridgton Academy.

During the Bridgton game, however, Mbaye knocked knees with a Wolverine player. The injury kept him out of Sunday's 67-50 Warrior victory over West Nottingham Academy.
"We will probably get him x-rayed," Gladden said. "He banged knees on Saturday night, and it didn't respond like we wanted it to, so we held him out today."
Gladden is hoping that Mbaye's injury is nothing serious, because the Senegalese native is an important part of his plans this season and a key cog in an impressive front line.
Mbaye signed this fall with Valparaiso, and a member of the Crusader coaching staff was on hand on Friday and Saturday night to catch Moussa in action.
He also created a buzz among many of the college coaches and scouts on hand, many of whom were shocked to learn of where he was headed next fall.
"People were making comments about how good he was," Gladden said. "The poise and the skill level that he exhibits is impressive."
"He dives on the floor, blocks shots, steps out, rebounds and dunks," Gladden reflected. "He's going to be a special guy."
