V Tech lands a sleeper

Virginia Tech has scored a commitment from under-the-radar prospect Marshall Wood.
A 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward out of Rustburg (Va.) High School, Wood didn't get a great deal of exposure on the national travel circuit. Coaches, however, became well acquainted with his abilities and his game film is impressive.

With Wood wanting to stay close to home, Virginia Tech was able to beat out Richmond, VCU, Virginia and Wake Forest to land this promising prospect.
"Marshall is really athletic and can really shoot," Rustburg head coach Brantley Shields told Rivals.com. "He also has great length.
"He felt Virginia Tech was a great fit, and he got along well with the coaches."
The second 2012 Virginia Tech commitment, Wood joins four-star forward Montrezl Harrell in the recruiting class.
Wood averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game last season.
