You never know when good news is going to come. UTEP certainly got some on Friday evening.
Rather than attend prep school, the No. 63 player in the 2012 Rivals150 Anthony January has announced that he will enroll in El Paso in January of 2013.
A 6-foot-8 combo forward from Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, January made the news official via his twitter account.
"I'm going to attend the University of Texas El Paso in January 2013," tweeted January.
Outside of that tweet, January has made no comment but his commitment is a huge one.
A four-star prospect, January has the ability to step in and be a major impact player.
His overall size allows him to play the four if necessary, but he's really more of a combo. Too big for most wings, he has great quickness, is a good mid range jump shooter and is very athletic around the cup.
