USC lands high scoring wing

Andy Enfield and the USC Trojans are on the board with their first commitment in the 2017 class.

Current three-star small forward Jordan Usher confirmed with Rivals.com that he has committed.

"FIGHT ON," Usher texted Rivals.com.

"When I visited I felt as if it was the school for me and I felt as if I was meant to be there," continued Usher. "The coaches prioritized me and showed me the plan they had for me."

A 6-foot-7 small forward who attends Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler,Usher won't be an unranked three-star much longer. He'll move into the 2017 Rivals150 this week as a four-star prospect and for good reason after a huge summer with the Atlanta Celtics.

He is a versatile prospect that will give Enfield and his staff some different options on how to use him. He’s big enough and strong enough to play as a “stretch 4” in situations, but he’s also a more than capable ball handler that can play some “point forward” if needed.

"I will be able to use my energetic play to make an immediate impact," said Usher.

Prior to the April recruiting periods, Usher held no high-major offers and wasn’t really on the radars of college coaches. A strong showing in Dallas followed by a good weekend in Atlanta during the first two stops in the Adidas Gauntlet led to roughly a dozen schools extending scholarship offers.

Usher took an official visit to USC last weekend and just completed a trip to Yale. He had an official visit planned for Arizona State later this month before calling off his recruitment and committing to the Trojans.
