USA trials: Session two

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - If effort does indeed get a prospect noticed, the coaching staff of the USA 16-Under National Team has to be very aware of Rondae Jefferson after the second practice session.

A 6-foot-7 2013 combo forward from Chester, Pa., Jefferson was all over the court and the glass making hustle plays. He never relented in his attack on the rim, grinding his way to baskets through traffic. A slender lefty, Jefferson finished shots with either hand and played a baseline-to-baseline game. He is versatile on defense and even though he is not a big scorer on offense, he avoids the negative play.

Jabari Parker (6-foot-7 2013 combo forward from Chicago) - For the second session in a row, Parker was the most impressive prospect on the court. Highly ranked Aaron Gordon has been limited by a foot injury and has sat out most of the first two practices.

Shaqquan Aaron (6-foot-6 2014 wing from Santa Anna, Calif.) - Like Jefferson, Aaron played a strong baseline-to-baseline game. He was strong on the defensive boards and effective at leading the fast break. Known for his outside shooting ability, Aaron has shown a more versatile offensive game, creating scoring opportunities off the dribble.

Jordan Swopshire (6-foot-5 2013 wing from O'Fallon, Mo.) - Swopshire was another active wing making hustle plays. He also knocked down a couple deep jumpers during the scrimmage portion of the practice.

Stanley Johnson (6-foot-5 2014 wing from Santa Ana, Calif.) - Johnson didn't have his best showing offensively, but he definitely made his mark on the defensive end. He gave a number of opponents headaches with his physical and aggressive on-the-ball defense.

Kendrick Nunn (6-foot-2 2013 combo guard from Chicago) - Nunn has stood out among the guards with his ability to score off the dribble. The herky-jerky lefty has a knack for creating space and knocking down jumpers.

RECRUITING NEWS

Tyus Jones has an offer from Iowa and is hearing from schools across the country, including Minnesota, Ohio State, Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa State, Arizona, UCLA, North Carolina, Washington, Washington State, Clemson, Florida State and Pittsburgh.

Illinois has offered Paul White, and he named Purdue, Wisconsin and Tennessee as other schools showing interest.

Rondae Jefferson only has offers from local schools St. Joe's and Temple, but as he told Rivals.com, he can't wait for July to come so coaches can watch him. He expects Georgetown, Florida, Villanova and Rutgers to be the first in line, and he would love for North Carolina to give him a look.
