USA trials: Session three

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The energy picked up at the third practice session of the 16-Under USA national team trials as the players are becoming more accustomed to the altitude. Providing a spark from the shooting guard position was Kendrick Nunn.
A 6-foot-1 2013 combo guard from Chicago Simeon High School, Nunn has been a dangerous threat coming off the wing ball screen in the USA offense going to his left. Repeatedly, he worked his way into the lane for either his patented midrange jumper or a dump off pass to the rolling big man. He also showed some explosiveness in transition during session three and has been an intense defender throughout the trials. Much of Nunn's value as a prospect lies in his unorthodox style and his ability to both initiate plays and finish plays.

Jahlil Okafor 6-foot-8 2014 center from Chicago Whitney Young High School - There are some large bodies at this trial, and Okafor is one of them. He has worked himself into a tight battle with Beejay Anya for the best post player in the trials.
Jimmie Taylor 6-foot-8 2013 center from Greensboro (Ala.) High School - Taylor has steadily improved during the trials. Tied with Anya for the highest reach in the trials, Taylor is becoming more of a factor around the rim. Opponents are finding it difficult to score against him, and he is coming up with more rebounds and buckets himself.
Larry Austin 6-foot-1 2014 point guard from Springfield (Ill.) Lamphier High School - Austin has been playing through an injury, but Saturday night he found his stride. He made plays defensively with his athleticism and anticipation and executed well in transition. His jumper looks good, and he has a nice balance between scoring and distributing in his game.
Shaqquan Aaron 6-foot-5 2014 wing from Santa Anna (Calif.) Mater Dei High School - Aaron was under the weather when he came to Colorado Springs, but he has steadily improved. Saturday night his jumper was dialed in, he was active on the glass and was comfortable handling the ball.
