USA goes 2 and 2

HILLSBORO, Ore.- The USA was facing the possibility of losing three out of four opening round games of the Nike Global Challenge, but P.J. Hairston led the USA South in an overtime win over Brazil in the last game of the night.
USA South 107, Brazil 99 Overtime

P.J. Hairston was guilty of leaving his man for an open three at the end of regulation, but did he ever make up for it in overtime. He started out the extra period with a three-pointer and then drew a charge call on the ensuing defensive possession. A couple buckets and an assist later, he sealed the deal with a step back three-pointer.
On the night Hairston was 9-18 from the field and 5-9 from behind the arc for 28 points.
Adonis Thomas added 22 points on 7-20 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.
Shannon Scott and Kentavious Caldwell both had 13 points and perhaps even more impressively came away with eight and six steals respectively.
Zach Price also had a solid outing with 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Canada 105, USA East 100 Double Overtime
The post combo of Kyle Wiltjer and Khem Birch was the key for Canada's win. Wiltjer didn't shoot with his typical efficiency, going 12-31 from the field and 1-7 from three, but he finished with a game high 31 and played with his usual composed savvy. He also grabbed 18 rebounds.
Birch, who has emerged as an elite post prospect in the 2012 class, put up a phenomenal double/double of 25 points and 20 rebounds. The most athletic player on the court, Birch also blocked six shots. His offense is still a work in progress, but he shot 11-15 from the field and made all three of his field goals.
Point guard Kevin Pangos was solid at the point of attack for Canada. Pangos finished with 15 points on 5-16 shooting, but much more importantly dished out nine assists to only three turnovers.
Anthony Bennett registered double digits, scoring 17 points on 6-21 shooting and athletic forward Andrew Wiggins provided valuable minutes for Canada off the bench.
James McAdoo led the East with 24 points on 10-28 shooting and had 13 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Tyrone Johnson had 19 points as did Dorian Finney-Smith who also grabbed a team high 19 rebounds.
Fresh off his Syracuse commitment, Rakeem Christmas blocked six shots.
USA Midwest 127, All-Asia 86
Bradley Beal led a strong team effort by the Midwest with 28 points on 12-23 shooting, 4-10 from three. Beal also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Point guard Jahii Carson had a terrific overall game running the show for the Midwest. Carson shot 9-11, including 3-4 from behind the arc for 22 points. Even more impressive were his nine assists to only one turnover and fierce on the ball defense.
Anthony Davis was the main scorer inside, putting up 23 points on 11-14 shooting, 1-1 from three. He also had nine rebounds.
Amir Williams led the team in rebounding with 10 boards and also had 12 points.
Utilizing his high level athleticism and energetic style, Dominique Pointer scored 14 points and registered four steal.
Forward Jakarr Sampson had a solid game scoring 10 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists to zero turnovers.
The star for All-Asia squad was Rivals150 prospect Bobby Parks Jr.. The left handed guard scored 25 points on 9-18 shooting, 5-10 from three.
INSEP France 112, USA West 108
France used a formula of 13-26 shooting from behind the arch and 40-70 shooting over all and a plus 12 rebounding advantage to upend the West.
Jabari Brown was the game high scorer with 25 points, but only shot 2-10 from behind the arc. He did get to the line for 12 free throws.
Nick Johnson wasn't much better from behind the arc, going 2-9, but he was 6-9 from inside the arc to finish with 22 points. He also had six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Johnny O'Bryant was the only interior player of note for the West. He registered a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Josiah Turner and Rodney Hood had 15 points and 10 points respectively.
RECRUITING NOTES
Refuting reports that he has already made his college choice, Anthony Davis maintains that he is still considering DePaul, Kentucky, Ohio State and Syracuse and has no time table for making a decision.
Bobby Parks Jr. will likely attend school in the Philippines and play for the national team this year. Parks is considering offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, UMass, South Florida, New Mexico and Memphis.
Jakarr Sampson is down to six schools- Tennessee, St. John's, Louisville, Baylor, Kansas and Michigan State.
Jabari Brown definitely plans to visit Washington and will also likely visit Kansas and Georgia Tech.
Josiah Turner will officially visit Louisville Labor Day weekend. He also said he will probably visit Arizona and Oregon as well.
Kevin Pangos will visit Gonzaga after this event. He has already visited Michigan. Along with these two schools, Cincinnati, UNLV and Temple have also offered. Virginia and Boston College are showing strong interest.
Anthony Bennett claims offers from Duke, UConn, West Virginia, Xavier, UNLV, Oklahoma and Iowa State.
