COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After impressive performances, newcomers Cameron Reddish and Immanuel Quickley survived the first cuts for the U17 Team USA squad as the list was cut from 36 to 18 players. Coaches will make another cut to the final 12 later this week. Returning for Team USA are Jordan Brown, Wendell Carter, Markus Howard, Kevin Knox, Javonte Smart, Gary Trent Jr., and Robert Woodard.

NEWCOMERS TO MAKE AN IMPACT

Throughout the whole training camp five-star Cameron Reddish shot well from the outside and forced turnovers in the backcourt. He made the first cut and could easily make the team once it's cut to 12 players. Maryland, Penn State and Auburn have offered early with interest from Louisville, Villanova and Syracuse.

Point guard Immanuel Quickley impressed a lot of people in the gym this weekend, including his teammates. He controls the pace on the offensive end and communicates well on defense. He’s a smart playmaker that could see some minutes once the team starts playing.

Quickley holds offers from Cincinnati, Washington, Virginia Tech, USC and Miami. The six-foot-four point guard also has interests from Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Villanova, and Ohio State.

Another point guard who made cut for the first time was 2017 four-star Daejon Davis. Hailing from Seattle, Washington he’s one of the fastest guards on the floor and his court sense in transition is phenomenal.

Davis recently decommited from Washington but they’re still high up on his list. He wants to get to Gonzaga, Oregon and UNLV at some point and has also been hearing from Stanford and Arizona.

SCHWARTZ TALKS RECRUITING

Colorado Springs native D’Shawn Schwartz made the first round of cuts on Sunday. The four-star shooting guard was consistent on the wing and brought the ball up when needed. His shooting was a little streaky at times but he actively crashes the boards.

Colorado has been heavy on Schwartz for quite a while now with Cal and Stanford showing interest.

MISSING THE CUT

Noticeably missing from this list are top 2018 five-stars Romeo Langford and Gerald Liddell. The competition was tough at the guard level and both players were playing up a division. Make no mistake they will be back next year. Langford found players out of nowhere in transition for easy baskets and alley-oop dunks while Liddell knocked down open shots out of double teams in the post and ran the floor well.
