UNLV lands talented 2013 big

During mid-June, Christian Wood stood out at the Nike Elite 100. It was easy to see him turning into a guy schools fought over. That fight will never materialize.
Friday afternoon, UNLV landed a commitment from Wood effectively ending his recruitment before it could even start.

A toothpick thin 6-foot-8, 185 pound power forward from Palmdale (Calif.) Knight, Wood is certainly a nice score for the Runnin' Rebels. Currently rated as a three-star prospect, that will change when Rivals.com updates rankings for the class of 2013.
Defensively, Wood is a high level shot blocker who usually outruns other bigs from block to block. He will fight despite his thin frame, has soft touch on the offensive end and is both an instinctive and hard working rebounder.
During July, Wood will run with the So-Cal All-Stars and he's likely going to arrive in the Vegas area before his college years. After the summer, he's expected to transfer to Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep to finish out his high school years.
