UMass, ECU, MAAC Eye Smallish Combo

Artavius Fisher, a high scoring 5-10, 155 pound combo/point guard from Kingston H.S. in Kingston, N.Y., impressed us with his shooting acumen last weekend at the Five-Star Hoop Classic in Boston.
Despite his size, Fisher is more of a scoring guard than a pure point guard. He's similar in some regards to former Rice H.S. star and current St. Peter's freshman Keydren Clarke, who was one of the top scorers in the NCAA Division I ranks this past winter.

Fisher averaged 24 points and seven assists per game this past season at Kingston, where he teamed with Holy Cross signee Keith Simmons to form a deadly backcourt. Fisher connected on 92 three pointers as a junior and at a 44 percent rate.
His team finished 22-3 and lost to Bob Cimmino's Mt. Vernon juggernaut in the state playoffs.
Several schools are looking at Fisher early, including Wagner, East Carolina, Siena, Marist, Canisius and UMass.
Fisher said he has an 83 average in the classroom and took the SAT for the first time on May 3.
Fisher should get a lot of looks this summer, because he'll tour with Jim Hart's perennially strong Nike travel program, the Albany City Rocks. The City Rocks are playing at the Nike Memorial Day Classic this weekend, and are also expected to attend the AAU Super Showcase and AAU Nationals during the July evaluation period.
We will keep you abreast on Fisher's play and recruitment in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
