UK Close To Getting Commitment

Sheray Thomas, a 6-8, 220-pound forward from Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, told us that he has a new leader in his recruiting process. Heading into this weekend's official visit to Lexington, Kentucky, Sheray Thomas listed Virginia as his leader. "It's Kentucky now," Thomas said. "I am close to committing. I had such a great time there."
When asked what he liked about Kentucky, Thomas said: "Everything. I like the coaches. I liked the players. It was a great atmosphere for basketball. The fans are crazy about basketball."

Thomas has not officially given a commitment to Kentucky. "It looks like it's going to be Kentucky," Thomas said. "I will take a couple of days and then make the decision."
Thomas said he thought he would definitely have a decision by Thursday. "It won't be later than that," Thomas said. "I had such a good time there. I can see myself playing the power forward position first there and then moving over to the small forward sometime later in my career."
Thomas previously said he was also considering Richmond, Connecticut, Syracuse, and West Virginia. But UCONN and Syracuse haven't made enough of an effort to convince Thomas he would consider them seriously in the future.
RivalsHoops.com watched Sheray play at the St. James Invitational in February and the Southern Invitational last Spring. Thomas performed well. He showed he has a nice medium range game and a soft touch. It was during this time Thomas first had a chance to see the Virginia campus. Potentially, Thomas is a top 100 player. Thomas showed he has some offensive skills that could allow him to be a combo forward on the college level. If his perimeter games extends even further out near the three-point line, he could play the three slot.
