John Calipari and Kentucky already held a slight edge over Duke for 2015's top recruiting class. Now they've solidified that standing.
Sources confirmed to Rivals.com that Australian big man Isaac Humphries, who spent much of last season at La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere, will enroll at Kentucky as a member of the class of 2015 and that he will be on campus within the next few days.
A 6-foot-10 center who had ranked No. 35 in the class of 2016, Humphries first gained acclaim during the summer of 2014 at the FIBA 18U World Championships in Dubai. Humphries averaged just under 19 points and 12 rebounds a game for the Aussies against top international competition.
Capable of eating up space in the low post, Humphries is a physical grinder who has good hands and a very good skill level. He uses either hand to finish around the rim, he controls his area of the floor as a rebounder and he has a strong frame built to absorb and finish through contact. His stellar play against the world's best in his age group and a move to the United States allowed him to earn a ranking of No. 35 overall in the class of 2016.
After arriving in the States as a junior, Humphries was a bit up and down but it is understandable that he was adjusting to new surroundings and a new style of play.
Kentucky's class is now the beneficiary of two international players who have made the move from 2016 to 2015. Five-star Canadian guard Jamal Murray did the same earlier this summer and those two join 2015's No. 1 player Skal Labissiere, five-star point guard Isaiah Briscoe and four-star shooting guards Charles Matthews and Mychal Mulder.
