UConn lures West Coast wing

Last weekend, Daniel Hamilton took an official visit to Connecticut. From the sounds of it things went well, but Hamilton had indicated he could take time to decide.
Turns out the 6-foot-6 wing from Los Angeles (Calif.) St. John Bosco just wanted to tell the media in person that he had given a verbal commitment.

Shortly after playing extremely well for Portland ICP in a win over the Mac Irvin Fire at the Nike EYBL, the No. 28 player in the class of 2014 spilled the beans.
"I wanted to wait and tell you in person," Hamilton told Rivals.com. "I verbally committed to UConn a few days ago."
The addition of Hamilton is a significant one for head coach Kevin Ollie. Despite he and his staff having their recruiting limited by NCAA sanctions, Ollie has gone big-game hunting from coast to coast.
According to Hamilton, it was Ollie's personality and personal pursuit that did the trick and his visit to Storrs sealed the deal.
"I feel they are an up-and-coming program under him," Hamilton said. "He's going to let me play my game, and he does that with his guys. I was up there on my visit playing pick-up with them, and it felt good."
A four-star prospect, Hamilton is a lock to be elevated to five-star status when the 2014 rankings are updated. He is the first member of UConn's 2014 class.
