UAB, St. Louis Among Some Recruiting Landfair

Chavis Landfair, a 6-10, 250 pound center from Mineral Area C.C. in Park Hills, Mo., has a pair of serious suitors chasing him this fall.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com spoke with MACC Head Coach Tim Gray this week, and he informed us that both Alabama-Birmingham and St. Louis University are pushing hard to sign his developing big man this fall.

Landfair is an interesting story in that he played his freshman year at Division II Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark. He impressed many on-lookers this summer at Rick Ball's J.C. Camp in Indiana, where he played with Mineral Area's squad.
Both UAB and Saint Louis are hoping to get Landfair on campus for visits this fall, but like most JUCO players, he is probably headed for a late signing.
Last year at Arkansas Tech, Landfair started 15 of 26 games, averaging 4.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He logged an average of 15 minutes per game and shot 42 percent from the floor on the season.
With big men at a premium in the late signing period, Landfair could write his own ticket to a Division I scholarship with a solid 2001-2002 campaign. Landfair hails from Starkville, Miss.
JUCO Junction hopes to catch him in action sometime during the basketball season, and when we do, we will provide you with an update on him at that time. In the meantime, we'll keep you abreast of any late breaking developments affecting his recruitment.
