2005 prospect Tyler Smith is ready to narrow his school list in the coming week. The No. 19 player in the Rivals75 for the class of 2005 has a pretty good idea what schools he will visit, and the 6-foot-7, 210-pound small forward has the two schools that watched him score 30 points last night at the top of his list.

“I am going to talk about who I will visit this weekend with my dad,” said Smith. “I would like to go to Tennessee this weekend, and Kansas of course. I’d like to go a lot of places. I will use as many unofficial visits as I can, so I can visit more places. I like Kansas a lot. Them and Tennessee are up at the top.”
Both Buzz Peterson of Tennessee and Kansas associate head coach Norm Roberts watched Smith play last night against Brandon Wright.
Smith’s father Billy Smith gave RivalsHoops.com more schools that his son will likely visit.
“We want to narrow it down to 10 teams in the next week or so,” said Mr. Smith. “Tyler is going to take his time. He is not going to make a decision anytime soon, but he does want to visit Tennessee, UCLA, Alabama, and Kansas. Florida State and Coach Hamilton are on him really hard now, and Rick Pitino at Louisville is real interested.”
Mr. Smith did address one of the weaker areas of his son’s game.
“He is working hard on his jump shot,” he said. “He just doesn’t have the confidence yet to just go up with it. This summer I am bringing up a coach from Huntsville to work solely with Tyler on his shot.”
Smith is a good, strong athlete who excels in a fast paced, open court game. He can get to the basket with either hand and finish at the basket with either hand. He also has the makings of a very good defender, but he does need to refine his half court offensive skills and improve his outside shot.
