Tyler Smith, a 6-3, 190-pound point guard from Laurel, Maryland, was superb playing for the Baltimore Select at the Three Stripes Tournament at Hofstra University this past weekend.
Smith is a lefty who is shifty with the ball, seen often juking and jabbing his way past defenders. He hit the the three very consistently at this event, and proved that he scould hit the hole quickly with a quick first step.
Smith lists Georgetown, Charlotte, Cincinnati, UConn, and Marquette. Georgetown and Charlotte have offered.
"After the summer events, I'll try and take some trips," said Smith.
Smith, who averaged 28 points and six assists at Baltimore's Frederick Douglass HS this past season, still needs one core credit to qualify for college eligibility, as well as a qualifying SAT score. He told RivalsHoops that he will either take a prep year at West Nottingham or at Mount Zion Academy. AS of this past weekend, he was leaning to Mount Zion.
Smith is currently attending the Charlie Weber Tournament in West Virginia. He will also attend the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament with the Baltimore Select.
