Tyger Campbell sets two official visits, updates recruitment

WHEELING, W. Va. – There hasn’t been much talk surrounding four-star guard Tyger Campbell following his decommitment from DePaul in September.

That is changing now, however.

The catalyst for his La Lumiere squad’s national title last year, Campbell remains greatly valued for his floor-setting skills. After finishing with seven assists in his team’s opening-night win at the Cancer Research Classic, he updated Rivals.com's Corey Evans on the programs heavy involved in his recruitment.

IN HIS WORDS

Maryland: “Really, they just said they want a point guard to come in and if I do good enough, to get good minutes my first year. I am just looking for a place with shooters and guys I can pass to since I am a pass-first point guard.”

UCLA: “They have been talking to me. I am going to do a lot of research on them but it is great to get that offer. Obviously it is in L.A. with great weather.”

DePaul: “I am just waiting on a couple of things with everything in my recruitment, but everyone has been doing well there like Max (Strus) and all those guys. They have a lot of shooters and I feel like I would do well.”

Purdue: “The way they play and coach (Matt) Painter is a good coach. They pound it inside a lot and I just like the way that they play. It is just a great program and they sell out every home game. There is just a lot there for me.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Heading to Maryland on Sunday for an official visit and then to UCLA on January 25, it looks as if it is a four-horse race for the elite playmaker as a decision could come at any time.

“Whenever I am ready to make my decision I will make it but there is really not a timeframe,” Campbell said.
