Two Visits, Four Schools on Hansbroughs Mind

Tyler Hansbrough, the elite junior 6-foot-8, 220 pound forward from Poplar Bluff (MO) HS, is not done with his recruitment. Not one tiny bit. After making trips to three high major programs already, Hansbrough told RivalsHoops on Wednesday night that he intends to use the remaining two visits allotted to him. Where will he go? Read on to find out who may get the trip.
The No. 5 player on the Rivals75 has already officially visited Florida, Missouri and North Carolina but he isn’t finished yet. He has decided to use the remaining two official visits he has left and is looking at four schools to go to.

“I’ll be going to Duke and then possibly Arizona, Kansas or Kentucky. I’ll go to one of those three schools,” he said. “There hasn’t been any dates set yet either. It’s very, very possible that I’ll visit in March.”
Over the course of his visits and throughout his recruitment, Hansbrough said he has been watching the way the coaches and players interact with each other. He plays on a tight knit Poplar Bluff (MO) team and also teams up with his younger brother Ben, who plays point guard for the squad. That kind of closeness is one of the main things he is looking for in a potential university.
“I like the way the coaches all talk to their former players. It’s just like they are family and everyone is so close,” Hansbrough said. “That is what I’m looking for – the way the coaches have relationships with their players and the way the players relate to each other.”
Hansbrough’s Poplar Bluff team will be playing in the area playoffs on Thursday night as they take on Jackson HS. He said Poplar Bluff’s chances of winning are pretty high “because their best player just got hurt and we’ve already beaten them” but his own team has yet to put everything together.
“We gotta do everything right and do what we need to do. Our coaches seem to be picking out all of the negatives but I know it’s just going to get us focused on what we need to do in order to win state,” he said. “If we do that, then I think we can win it.”
