Two Upcoming Visits for Huffman

He has size and he has skills. For these two important reasons, Jonathan Huffman is a very intriguing prospect. The 6-foot-11, 210-pound combo forward from Central Park High School in Montgomery, Ala., can shoot the three and put the ball on the floor and presently is down to six schools.
"My favorites are Louisville, Minnesota, UAB, Florida State, Miami, and Penn State,” said Huffman, who is the No. 38 ranked power forward in the class of 2005. “They all have offered. I don’t have a favorite. Im waiting to see how my visits go."

Beginning this weekend, Huffman will begin a series of official visits.
"I will be visiting Louisville this weekend then Minnesota on September 10,” he said. “I plan to take all five of my visits but haven’t set anything else up as of yet. I will probably make my decision in November."
Even at 6-foot-11, Huffman is much more of a face up player than a back to the basket player. His game is marked by a high skill level with the ball and more of a finesse style than a grind it out close to the basket, physical style of play. Not overly athletic or explosive, he is a smooth athlete who in many ways resembles a European style player more than an American style player.
Style of play will be an important factor in Huffman’s success in college. He needs a free flowing system that opens the court and gives him the opportunity to face the basket.
"I want to go to a school that I can come in and play right away,” he said. “I’d like to stay close to home, but if the right opportunity presents itself, I will leave. I like to play up tempo and will be looking into style of play when I make my decision."
On the other hand, if Huffman wants to tap out on his ability and turn himself into an NBA type player, he needs a program that will push him to develop strength and explosiveness and learn to play a more tough minded, physical style of play.
"We just started back to school today,” he said. “I want to put on some weight before I go to college. I will also be working a lot on my strength and conditioning."
