slowly narrowing down his list from earlier this summer, he has chosen to
pursue his college basketball career at Northern Iowa.
Northern won out over Pedescleaux's other finalist, Tulsa.
"He knew it came down to Northern Iowa and Tulsa," said Armstrong head coach
Greg Miller. "After his uncle got back into town, he went over his decision
and decided on Northern Iowa."
In addition to Tulsa, Pedescleaux chose UNI over the likes of Dayton, Southern
Illinois, and Wisconsin-Green Bay. He also decided to play basketball over
football offers from Kansas State and Minnesota. What it basically boiled down
to was the fit Pedescleaux felt he had with the players and staff at UNI.
"He indicated he really felt comfortable with the players there," said Miller.
"He thought they were a close-knit group and he liked that."
With the campus of Northern Iowa in close proximity to his Robbinsdale home,
Pedescleaux had several opportunities to visit the school, get familiar with
their players, and essentially become comfortable with the program - and in the
end, that familiarity won out.
"It's close enough that he's been on their campus four times including his
official visit," said Miller. "They had recruited him longer than anyone. He
was just real familiar with them."
Pedescleaux is Northern Iowa's second commitment from the Class of 2004,
joining his AAU teammate with the Howard Pulley Panthers, Eric Coleman of
Oakland (MN) Tartan.
