Two offers for Dawkins

Schools across the eastern seaboard are well aware of standout 2010 shooting guard Andre Dawkins of Chesapeake (Va.) Atlantic Shores High School. Dawkins, 6-foot-5, 190-pounds, already has two offers in hand.
Maryland and Old Dominion are the two schools that have offered the sophomore, but they aren't the only schools closely tracking Dawkins.

"Maryland watched me the other day, and Old Dominion is around all the time," said Dawkins. "Georgetown has watched me twice. Virginia Tech was just at practice and has been around a lot. And Florida and Clemson came to the school in the fall."
Dawkins has also done some visiting himself. This fall he visited Wake Forest, and during the summer Dawkins took a look at Duke, a school that Dawkins grew up rooting for.
"I grew up a Duke fan," he said. "As of now, though, it is a toss up between the schools recruiting me. I have a lot of time to make a decision. I still pull for Duke, but now I'm looking at games differently on T.V. I'm watching a lot of different games, trying to see how I'd fit into different situations."
With nice size for the shooting guard position, Dawkins impressed at the NIKE Memorial Day Event last spring with his ability to come off screens and score the basketball. For his high school team, which is 14-5, Dawkins is needed to impact the game in a variety of ways.
"They need me to score just like my Boo Williams team needs me to in the summer, but I also have to rebound and get others involved for my high school team," commented Dawkins.
Thus far he has been successful, averaging 22 points, 7.5 rebounds and a handful of assists per game.
