Gary Ervin, an aggressive 6-0, 173 pound combo guard from Robeson H.S. in Brooklyn, N.Y., said he has already been offered scholarships by a pair of high major programs.
Ervin, who helped Riverside Church nail down fifth place at this past weekend's BET D.C. Pro Am Summer Basketball Tournament, told the Insiders Report that UMass and Miami have offered him already.
Ervin added that he has also seen serious interest from Maryland, St. John's Seton Hall, Syracuse, Villanova, Alabama and Hofstra entering his senior year.
Ervin was one of the top players in the New York City public ranks as a junior, leading Robeson to the city title game against Grady. He is an aggressive slasher who is known for his difficult acrobatic finishes. He also gets to the free throw line quite a bit.
Ervin averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and four steals as a junior at Robeson. He said he has a 77 average in the classroom and took the SAT for the first time on June 2.
Ervin started out playing with the Long Island Panthers this past spring, but has now switched to playing with Riverside Church. He still plans on attending the adidas ABCD Camp in July prior to attending the Nike Peach Jam and AAU Super Showcase with Riverside.
