Two Leaders For Eric Price

There was a time when Eric Price was hoping to make a quick decision when it came to his recruitment, but that is no longer the case. After spending a great deal of time with Blair Academy Head Coach Joe Mantegna, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound shooting guard/point guard from Blair Academy, NJ., has decided to take a step back and consider all of his options.
Price indicated that he plans to take all five official visits, but also stated that two schools have moved to the top of his list.

“Things are still pretty much the same when it comes to my recruitment,” Price said. “I will say that Kansas and Illinois are the leaders right now. I have remained in contact with coaches from both schools and they are planning to come watch me play as soon as they can. I know that both schools are highly interested in me, and I am very much interested in both schools.
“Oklahoma is the newest schools to get involved in my recruitment,” he added. “I have had discussions with several coaches from the OU staff and they want to come see me play before they offer me a scholarship. Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Memphis and Notre Dame are some of the other schools recruiting me, but Kansas and Illinois are my leaders. I plan to take all five official visits, but I do not know what schools I will visit for sure. I do know that KU and Illinois are two schools I will definitely visit.”
While Price is definitely going to take his time with the recruiting process, there was a time when it appeared he might be ready to end his recruitment at the first opportunity. After spending quite a bit of time with Coach Joe Mantegna, Price has decided to ease his way though his recruitment.
“Not many people know this, but Coach Mantegna is also a college counselor here at Blair Academy, so he and I talked a lot about my recruitment,” Price said. “Coach Mantegna just told me to take my time and not make any rush decisions. I am having such a good year on the basketball court and other schools have noticed that, so there is no point in rushing a decision.
“As a team, I think we’re 9-2 or 9-3,” he added. I am averaging 18-points and 11-assists per game, so I am very happy with my play at this time. One of my teammates is averaging close to 25-points per game, so my scoring might be a little down, but I’m getting others involved with my assists.”
