Mark Turgeon's first week on the job at Maryland has been an interesting one.

While he's been busy putting together his new staff he's seen two 2011 guys -- Sterling Gibbs and Nick Faust -- ask for releases from their scholarship. Then, Saturday afternoon he landed his first commitment from Seth Allen.
A relatively unknown shooting guard from Fredericksburg (Va.) Christian, the 6-foot-2 junior had long been a target of Turgeon's at Texas A&M.
Once the move was made to Maryland, Allen -- who runs with Virginia based Hoop Booth in the summer -- made a campus visit and committed on the spot.
"Seth is a special player and has a great feel for the game," his high school coach Darren Berkley told Rivals.com in late April. "He can score, pass, rebound, defend and he has that intangible ability to make his teammates better, too. I have never seen anyone stay in front of him. He's so explosive and powerful."
"He's a vocal leader with a great disposition, too. He shoots the three-pointer off the bounce and the pass. I would say he needs to improve his middle game some, but he hasn't been forced to pull up very much due to his great ability to finish."
Allen joins a 2012 class that still includes four-star Justin Anderson who committed while Gary Williams was still coach.
