Tucker will wait until the late period

Four-star small forward Jordan Tucker made a surprising move to last month when he decided to move south for his final year of high school and attend national powerhouse Wheeler High School. The transition hasn’t had any impact on his recruitment though as all the same schools are in still making him a priority.

He’s currently working with a top eight that consists of Arizona, Duke, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland Syracuse, USC and Villanova.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Tucker talked about where he stands with Duke and his interest in a few of the other schools involved in his recruitment.

Duke: “They have been telling me Kevin Knox is their priority at my position right now and they are waiting to see what he does. They told me to keep them in my top eight because they aren’t sure what he’s going to do. If they don’t get him, he said they are going to come right after me. They would definitely be high on my list.”

Indiana: “I like Indiana because Tom Crean is really big on player development. When I went on my visit there in May or June, that was the best thing I saw. They showed me the progression of each player in the drills they do. They showed me the numbers in the drills they do and everybody improved dramatically.”

Louisville: “Darius (Perry) is really the difference. They started to come after me harder when they saw we were teammates. They said they need a shooter and that’s what they’ve really stressed. Playing with Darius already I think would translate well moving to the next level.”

Syracuse: “They were the first big school to recruit me, and I was the first person they offered in this class. They just know I’m a New York kid.”

Villanova: “I think that’s a school I can go to and play right away. I like the way coach (Jay) Wright’s teams play. They play more up and down now and they shot a lot of threes last year. I like the way everybody is getting their shots up there. It seems like an easy system to fit into.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

With his school on fall break this week, he’s going to try to sneak in a couple visits if possible. Indiana and Villanova were two schools he mentioned as possible destinations. He also plans to be at Louisville soon with Darius Perry, a Louisville commit and teammate at Wheeler. Tucker says he’s going to be waiting until the late signing period to make a decision.

RIVALS' REACTION

The reason Tucker will be waiting until the late signing period is because he wants to see which schools sign the top point guards in his class. Duke, if it misses on Kevin Knox and come after him, is in the mix for Matt Coleman and Quade Green. Syracuse is considered by many the school most likely to get Green. Indiana is hosting Tremont Waters on an official visit this weekend, which would intrigue Tucker. Louisville already has their point guard in Perry. How the dominoes fall with the point guards will be the key to figuring how where Tucker ends up.
